Top Ten Tuesday: Books I Enjoyed, but Rarely Talk About
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that was created by The Broke and the Bookish, but has since be moved to The Artsy Reader Girl. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
This week’s Top Ten list topic is books I enjoyed, but rarely talk about
(1) Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I am quickly becoming a lover of anything Rainbow Rowell writes, and this book was no exception. I loved the writing and I loved the characters. After reading this and the two books in the Carry On series and absolutely adoring them, I need to start reading any and everything that she writes!!
(2) The Honey-Don’t List By Christina Lauren
I am adding this book to the list because I don’t feel like I have given it enough of a voice. I am generally a sucker for a good rom-com book and have been let down too many times by over controlling/jealous male love interests. This book was such a breath of fresh air! I really enjoyed the chemistry of the characters and was full on rooting for them throughout the book!
(3) Beartown by Fredrik Backman
I should be giving this book way more attention than I have been. I need to be recommending it to EVERYONE! I read this book last month and it was a solid 5 star read for me and will likely make an appearance on my Top 10 list for 2020.
(4) My Dark Vanessa by Kate Elizabeth Russell
This book will not be for all readers due to some hard hitting topics. However, this is such a beautifully written book that tackles serious issues that I feel need to be discussed. It was a tough read at times, but one that I would highly recommend.
(5) The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern
This is another book, like Beartown, that I should be shouting from the rooftops for people to read. The Starless Sea will no doubt be making the top ten list for 2020. I read this book back in January and I am still in awe of this beautifully written and well crafted novel.
(6) Arc of the Scythe by Neal Shusterman
I am putting this entire trilogy on the list. If you enjoy a well written, action packed dystopian then this trilogy is for you! I absolutely loved the first book and thought there was no way it could get any better. What a pleasant surprise when the series got even better with each book!
(7) These Witches Don’t Burn by Isabel Sterling
So this is another book that I need to be shouting about! I am now learning while making this list that I need to start talking to more people about books and sending out all the recommendations. These Witches Don’t Burn surprised me with how much I loved it and the content within. I am now not so patiently waiting until May for book two to come out!
(8) Serpent & Dove by Shelby Mahurin
Keeping on the theme of witches, I LOVEDDDD this book. Lou is my spirit animal!!! Can it just be September already??? I NEEEDDD to read the next book, like yesterday!
(9) It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
Naked truth: this book is beautifully raw and heart wrenching. If you have never read a Colleen Hoover book, I cannot recommend this one enough! She has a way of dragging your heart through joy, sadness, love and heartbreak all within the same page. This book shed light on a hard topic, but was done some beautifully.
(10) Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
Lets finish off this list with another rom-com! This book made me laugh and fall in love, while also speaking to the raw insecurities and scary things that being in love can do to a person. If you are looking for a good, steamy romance book, look no further!
What are some books you have read that you don’t give enough attention? Have you read any of these books and agree/disagree with my thoughts? If you have a Top Ten Tuesday post, feel free to link it down in the comments!
